Because I literally use it EVERY DAY!
From smoothies to pancakes to fudge, oh my!! It’s delicious, it’s satiating, it’s sweet, and it certainly curbs my sugar cravings better (and more quickly!) than most keto snacks.
High protein low carb foods like these low carb protein powders are great as a midday treat to keep your blood sugar in check, or worked into a meal to tide you over.

9 Best Keto Protein Powder Products
After many trial and errors, I present to you my tops picks..
Here are the 9 best keto protein powder products:
1. Pure Whey
Aside from being scrumptious and amazingly mix-able, this protein powder is stevia sweetened, and is free of rBGH (the hormone given to cow’s to increase their milk production). It gets a solid A in my book!
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 24 g protein
- 2g carbs, 2g net carbs
- Protein Type: Whey Protein Concentrate
2. Quest Nutrition Protein Powder
Creative flavors, this stuff is SO tasty, it tastes like a cheat! Check out their website full of tasty protein powder recipes.
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 24 g protein
- 3g carbs, 2g net carbs
- Protein Type: Whey Protein Isolate + Casein
3. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard
Delicious, minimal ingredients, and protein packed. This blend dissolves easily in liquid and has just the right amount of sweetness!
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 24 g protein

- Protein Type: Whey Protein Isolate
4. ISO 100
Taste wise, this stuff is my FAVE! Not to mention it dissolves in liquid almost immediately. This is the perfect protein powder when you need a pre-workout protein boost, or to toss into your smoothies.
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 25 g protein
- 2g carbs, 1g net carbs
- Protein Type: Hydrolyzed Whey Protein
5. Raw Organic Protein
If you’re looking for a raw/organic/plant based version, then here’s your low carb protein powder. It’s made without dairy and soy, and is sweetened without artificial flavors. It uses a unique combo of plant proteins, the first on the list is pea protein. On it’s own, pea protein is one of the nastiest things I’ve ever tasted! But in this mix, it’s ok.
**UPDATE: I’ve been using this protein powder for years, and will say that recently the formula must have changed, as it seems to have a stronger pea protein taste. I don’t like it as much as before!**
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 22 g protein
- 2g carbs, 1g net carbs
- Protein Type: Plant Protein Combo
6. Naked Whey
This stuff is just plain ol’whey, which is super handy to have in the kitchen — use it to add “fluff” to bread recipes (such as soul bread) or flavorless protein to your smoothies!
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 25 g protein
- 3g carbs, 3g net carbs
- Protein Type: Whey Protein Concentrate
7. Vanilla Whey Protein
Only 5 ingredients in this organic option! If you’re looking for some good clean protein powder, this product is for you!
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 21 g protein
- 2g carbs, 2g net carbs
- Protein Type: Whey Protein Concentrate
8. Perfect Keto Protein Powder
I included this product in the round up, as a lot of people have asked me about it and I think it works great for those following a keto meal plan. That said, I prefer the products above due to their nutritional breakdown, price and taste.
Highlights:
- 1 Scoop: 10 g protein
- 1g carbs, 0g net carbs
- Protein Type: Collagen
What Do I Think is the Best Protein Powder?
My two favorite of these low carb protein powders are:
- Garden of Life Vanilla (this is a vegan/plant based protein powder)
- ISO Pure (whey based)
I LOVE the flavor of both of these protein powders, and their minimal ingredient lists. I switch between the two to add variety to our eating plan.
I also prefer vanilla protein powder to most of the flavored varieties. Most of these low carb protein powders come in every flavor from cookie dough to mint chocolate chip. I find the more unique the flavor, the more chemically it will taste. A quick glance at the ingredient list will prove my point.
To be safe, I stick to vanilla, followed by chocolate. Some smoothies and dessert recipes aren’t the same without it!
Macronutrient Breakdown of Protein Powder?
Let me preface this section by mentioning that I carefully selected the 9 protein powders above that contain minimal carbs. This information applies to other products…
Which doesn’t make a ton of sense, because when you buy protein powder, you assume it’s all protein right?
Most products add filler ingredients to bulk them up, or their sweeteners crank up the carbs in protein powder. So, if you’re veering from the list of products above, glance at the label before purchasing to make sure you’re buying a product that works with your meal plan.
Tips for Buying Protein Powder?
I have 3 important tips to share here…
- Before purchasing a huge container of protein powder, make SURE you like the taste of the product. Amazon offers sample sizes of most of these low carb protein powders nowadays.
- Shop smart. I know it’s tempting to grab a jar at your specialty grocery store, but purchasing these protein powders on Amazon or at Wholesale stores (think Costco or Sam’s Club), can save you quite a bit!
- Read the labels! I already mentioned this above, but the nutritional breakdown will vary from product to product.
How to Eat (or Drink) Protein Powder?
Low carb protein powder is DELICIOUS when mixed into a handful of recipes.
Duh, you can add it to water or milk, but if you’re feel creative, why not try your own smoothie, pancakes, even low carb desserts taste better with a scoop of protein powder mixed in!
Mix it into a drink.
Whipping up a keto protein shake with any of the products above is EASY! Just add a scoop to you shaker cup, along with keto milk (think almond milk, coconut milk, or hazelnut milk) or water. I prefer using a milk alternative to water as it adds more flavor!
How To Make This A Heartier Meal?
Love the idea of a shake, but don’t think it’ll fill you up enough?
Try adding a scoop of keto peanut butter into the mix — the fat in the nut butter will help keep you happy, satiated and full!
Make a Smoothie.
Toss a little milk, protein powder, low carb nuts, avocados, ice, keto greek yogurt, and whatever else your little heart desires into your blender and blend away!! Adding low carb protein powder to smoothies is an awesome way to balance the macros, while helping to keep you satiated until the next meal.
Other High Protein Keto Snacks
High protein keto snacks are suuuper handy to have around, as they’re great to tide you over between meals, and curb potential hangry swings.
Low carb protein powder is one of my favorites, but I also LOVE keto cheese and low carb jerky.
For a portable snack, consider portioning out keto protein powder into individual snack bags and keeping a few in your bag — some products also sell single serving sizes.

Lindsey's Tips
- Chocolate. I love Lily's chocolate chips for this (they make dark, semi-sweet, and milk) but you can always make your own low carb chocolate by following my recipe!
- Milk. I swap between unsweetened light almond or coconut milk.
- Peanut Butter often contains added sugar. Read labels carefully before purchasing -- I love Justin's or Trader Joe's brand.
- Make sure you like the taste of your protein powder!! If you don’t like the taste, you won’t like this shake.
- You won’t be able to taste the spinach, and it’s a great way to sneak some greens in for breakfast! I store a bag of spinach in the freezer to make my shakes extra cold.
