Ingredients

For the Dough (Choose 1):

For the Pizza:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon avocado or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound ground turkey (note 1)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 5 tablespoons mayo
  • 5 tablespoons ketchup (note 2)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup dill pickle chips sliced
  • lettuce shredded
  • tomatoes sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F and grease a 12" pizza pan, or line with parchment paper.
  • Make your pizza dough per the instructions, don't pre-bake.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg (1) with 1 tablespoon of water. Use a pastry brush to brush this along the edges of your crust, then sprinkle with sesame seeds (1 teaspoon) and set aside.
  • Heat avocado or vegetable oil (1/2 tablespoon) in a large skillet over medium heat. Once shimmering, add the turkey (1/2 pound), salt (1/2 teaspoon), pepper (1/2 teaspoon), and onion (1/2), and break up the meat with the back of your spoon as it browns.
  • Meanwhile in a small bowl whisk together your mayo (5 tablespoons), ketchup (5 tablespoons) and hot sauce (1 teaspoon).
  • Spread all but 2 tablespoons of your mayo/ketchup combo over the top of your pizza crust using the back of a spoon. Sprinkle cooked turkey on top, followed by the shredded cheese (2 cups).
  • Bake in preheated oven per the crust instructions, until the cheese is bubbly and the edges begin to brown (for my keto pizza crust, bake for 18-22 minutes).
  • Remove from the oven and top with sliced pickles (1/2 cup), tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. Spoon extra sauce on top. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. Ground turkey - you can use ground beef here as well.
  2. Ketchup - for a low carb alternative, make your own keto ketchup, or opt for a sugar free store bought version (such as Primal Kitchen).
